The Camp Sawtooth Adventure

Over the weekend of March 28-30th Kelly invited me to join him and his Youth Group on an adventure into the Sawtooth Wilderness. Ok, that sounds a little more exotic than it actually was…we didn’t have to venture into the wilderness too far…but it was just right since it is still “winter” there!

Once we made it to the National Sawtooth Recreation Area office we parked and strapped on our snowshoes. After we had our gear in place (most of it on our backs) we hiked a mile and half into Camp Sawtooth…

Mr. Tim and Wyatt had to snowmobile our food in. Wyatt wasn't real crazy about the snowmobile but give him a year or two and I think he'll be diggin' that kind of thing. Tim grew up visiting Camp Sawtooth and has helped build and care for the property.

And we're off....

Once we got into camp and settled our things we headed over to the main hall to warm up around the big fireplace...

After dinner we met for Chapel and Kelly shared his message with the kids.

We didn't have any running water but the girls made due when it came time to beautify and brush teeth!

Our cabin...

The lodge where we ate our meals, hung out and met for Chapel.

Saturday after lunch was free time...we headed out on snowshoes to find a sledding hill...

Mr. Tim coming through on his promise to "white-wash" Kelly....

Jennifer getting in on the action and coming to Kelly's rescue!

Too cute for words...caught Wyatt mid scentence...hard to believe.

Sunday morning....

Me, ready to pass out, after Josh challenged me to race him the last 100 yards...with snowshoes and a pack on...

But what a great weekend and to have spent it in such a BEATUIFUL area in the middle of winter. Good times. Props to Pastor Kelly and crew for putting together such a great trip. I can't imagine the kids appreciating what went into this weekend or the experience they had but one day it will sink in. Kelly shared a great message with the whole group and really got us all thinking about God's will for our lives. A priceless and worthwhile pursuit!
